WHAT IS INTERACT CLUB?
Interact Club is a community service club at Escalon High School. Throughout the school year we organize various events such as fundraisers, senior visits, blood drives, etc. We have meetings every other Tuesday in room 7. Come and join us, and don't hesitate to let us know about any new ideas you might be interested in.
WHAT DOES INTERACT CLUB DO?
Interact club organizes numerous community oriented events for example:
- Kids in a Box:
Kids in a Box is a two day event hosted by Rotary and Interact. EHS and other schools participate in order to raise money for the Haven of Peace (a women and children homeless shelter). After that, you get to stay at the school overnight at the football field, under supervision. We do many activities such as games, dance (DJ), hang out with friends, meet new people etc.
- Haven of Peace Visit:
After Kids in a box the Interact presents them a check of the money that was raised. We later visit the Haven of Peace center (children and women's homeless shelter) and spend time with the kids.
- Halloween Movie Night:
Interact Club has a Halloween Movie Night fundraiser in October. The members get to vote on a horror movie, which gets played in the high school gym. Snacks, food, and drinks are sold to eat during the movie.
- Blood Drive
Interact Club organizes two school blood drives each year. Eligible students are encouraged to donate blood as it can save up to three lives. Students can also choose to help out during the event by delivering slips to excuse donors from class.
- Senior Estate Visit
Interact visits the Senior Estate in Escalon every other month for two hours. The members talk and play games with the elderly. During holidays we give each of the members a gift. Ex: On valentine's day we give each of the elderly a card.
- Santa Cruz Trip
One of the biggest Interact Club events during the school year is the Santa Cruz Trip. The Santa Cruz Trip is a two-day event in which members help at a soup kitchen, go to the beach, and camp. Students get to hike, eat s'mores, hang out with friends, after a day of serving the community.
-End of the year raffle
Throughout the school year, we keep track of people's participation in the club. Each time you help out or go to an event, you are given a certain amount of points (which will be turned into tickets). In our last meeting, we will raffle out prizes to reward you for your involvement in the club. Keep in mind that the purpose of the clubs is to serve for your community; however, we want you to know that your participation is greatly appreciated.
If you have any ideas for new events, email us at escalon.interact@gmail.com. Or you can also go to our Tuesday meetings in room 30 and contribute to the club.
